    Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal Pty Ltd (WICET) is owned and being developed by existing and potential coal exporters located in Queensland to provide increased long term export coal capacity.

    Xcel Surveying is contracted by Worley Parsons to provide audit surveys as the client surveyor on behalf of WICET Pty Ltd. This $2.5 Billion project comprises a rail receiver facility to handle 7600 tonnes per hour, a 5.5 Km long overland conveyor, a stockyard area for 1.9 million tonnes of coal, a 2Km long jetty conveyor to a single berth travelling ship loader filling ships at 8250 tonnes per hour.

    Xcel Surveying was contracted by Survey Link to provide it’s surveying services for the erection of structural steel and the installation of 4 Ball Mills. These mills were the largest ever constructed. Survey work on the ball mills was conducted to the strictest tolerances being +/- 1mm for XY and +/- 0.25mm for Z. All work had independent checks by Metso engineers (vendor) and were found to be within tolerances.

    XCEL was contracted by Survey Link to provide project surveyors to audit all contract surveyors on site and provide primary control for the construction of rail, wharf, roads, mechanical structures, civil foundations and a train unloader.

    XCEL was contracted by Survey Link to provide project surveyors to audit all contract surveyors on site and provide primary control for the construction of rail, wharf, roads, mechanical structures, civil foundations and a train unloader.

    This project was developed for a phase 1 capacity of 45Mtpa and including the following packages:

    Marine facilities, comprising conveyor trestles traversing 1,400m over complex ground conditions, a 90m approach jetty, two dolphin berths to accommodate vessels up to 270,000dwt and a ship loader support structure. The expansion of the ship manoeuvring area, departure area and berthing basin included some 4.5 million m3 of dredged silt and sandstone used in strategic reclamation of the stockyard area. Work included full delivery of all marine structures, ship loading equipment, dredging, stockyard areas and rail interfaces.
